2225 | In 1959 and 1984 was living in Strasbourg, Saskatchewan, Canada. Memorial service was held in Strasbourg United Church with Rev. Marjorie Kent officiating on 7 September 2001 with interment following in Crescent Road Cemetery. Following courtesy of Lorne Wallace Glendinning from Agnes Helen Baird's scrapbook: John Ernest Woodrow Glendinning Deciding that he preferred farming to school, he persuaded his parents to move back to the farm in 1928. In November of 1936, Woodrow and Dorothy MacKenzie were married and began their life together in a small house in the Glendinning yard. Four years later, when the senior Glendinnings again moved to Strasbourg, Woodrow and the family moved into the parental home which knew the presence of children as Woodrow and Dorothy became parents to Marie, Shirley and John. Woodrow farmed with his brother Caswell until Cas retired in 1971. Two years later Woodrow "retired" and moved into Strasbourg, where he worked for Cecil Jenkins, farming and at International Harvester. Woodrow and Dorothy enjoyed travelling together, both in Canada and in Europe. From 1972, they enjoyed spending part of the winter in Vancouver, British Columbia. Woodrow was a friend and neighbour who could always be counted on. He enjoyed time with friends - especially when there was a game of cards to be played! Always a farmer, he never lost interest in how crops were doing, or how the harvest was going in the community that was his for a lifetime. In June, failing health necessitated a move from his Downey Street home to the Last Mountain Pioneer Home, where he died on Saturday, September 1, 2001. Woodrow was predeceased by his parents James and Fanny; Dorothy, his cherished wife of 64 years; his brothers Harold, Bob, Caswell and Alton. Left to celebrate his life and to remember all that he was to them are his children Marie Glendinning, Shirley Smith, and John (Betty) Glendinning; his grandchildren Monique and Teresa Smith, and Scott (Lois-Anna Kaminsku) Glendinning; his sister Edyth Brown; his brother Lorne (Veryl) Glendinning; many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. We give thanks for the life of Woodrow Glendinning. | Glendinning, John Ernest Woodrow (I11246)
