Dorothy Lavina (Crandell) Outram was born Aug. 2, 1916 near Carrington, ND the daughter of Wellington and Caroline (Westerlund) Crandell. She attended school in various places in the area. On Nov. 1, 1934, she married William G. Outram. The couple farmed near Tower City until 1954 and then moved into Tower City. They later lived at Dugway, Utah, and Sierra Vista, Ariz. In 1972 William retired and they moved to Valley City. Dorothy was employed as a nursing assistance at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City. Mr. Outram died in 1985 and she made her home in Valley City until recently, when she became a resident at Maryhill Manor in Enderlin. Survivors include -ter: Cloyce (Elizabeth) Outram, Silverdale, Wash.; John Outram, Vero Beach, Fla.; Douglas Outram, Hammett, Idaho; Roger (Kae) Outram, Tucson, Ariz.; James (Teresa) Outram, Chambersburg, Pa.; and Linda M. Wayne worked for Petro Fina and Petro Canada for over twenty-seven years. Wayne enjoyed bowling, traveling, photography, golf, watching sports and took great pleasure in his grandchildren. Wayne was a member of the Cochrane Lions Club and has resided in the Cochrane area for thirty-six years. Wayne was predeceased by his father Sam Blood, and is survived by his wife Melva; daughters, Heather (Nick), Brenda (Gord); son Ross; and grandchildren, Chelsea and Gavin. After his marriage to Margaret Johnston, who was a daughter of the late James Johnston, he lived in Mara Township, before moving to South Orillia. He is survived by his wife and two sons and three daughters, William and James Thomson, South Orillia; Mrs. Geo. Bell, Orillia; Misses Jessie and Annie, at home. There are also two brothers, David P. and Donald C. Thomson, of South Orillia, and four sisters, Mrs. William Graham, Little Current, Mrs. David Dunn, South Orillia, and Misses Jessie and Annie who reside with their brother, Mr. Donald Thomson. The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon and was conducted by the Rev. N.H. McGillivray. The pallbearers were four of the late Mr. Thomson's nephews: Messrs. Thomas S. Thomson, Jas. W. The Orillia Packet and Times, Thursday, August 21, 1947, Page 4, Archives of Ontario microfilm N039 Reel 83NP reported: "DAVID PARK THOMSON One of the oldest residents of the district and a member of a pioneer family, David Park Thomson died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William Duncan, North Orillia, on Wednesday, August 13, in his 98th year. Mr. Thomson was born in Glenmetal, Invernesshire, Scotland, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Thomson. In 1872, when a young man of 23 years of age, he came to Canada with his parents and settled on a farm in South Orillia. He lived there most of his early life except for a few years spent in Ardtrea and Hampshire, but moved back to the original farm home, Hill House, next to the Ontario Hospital School. A part of the present hospital property was purchased from the Thomson family. In 1926 he left the farm and lived in Dunedin Park, Orillia, until his wife died in 1934. Since then he has lived with his daughter, Mrs. Duncan, or with his sons in Orillia. He has enjoyed good health up until about three weeks before his death. Mr. Thomson served for several years as a member of the Council and was Deputy Reeve of the Township of Orillia. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. In 1883 he married Jane Scott, also of Invernesshire, who died in 1934. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. David Dunn and Miss Annie Thomson of Orillia and one daughter, Mrs. William Duncan and two sons, J.W. Thomson and D.T.S. Thomson, both of Orillia. There are seven grandchildren. The funeral service was held at MacDonald’s Funeral Home on Friday, August 15 and interment was made in Orillia Cemetery. The Rev. J.A. MacInnis took the service and pallbearers were Duncan McIntosh, Norman Shaw, and four grandsons, John Thomson, and David, James and Thomas Duncan. Summarized from Peter's obituary in MacLean's, April 17, 2006 Finished High School in Rosetown, Saskatchewan. Received an honours B.A. in 1966 and a law degree in 1970 from University if Saskatchewan and was president of his law class. He played the piano, listened to classical music and drank. Articled with a law firm in Saskatoon and moved to Regina in 1971 where he practiced law, worked at high level jobs with provincial agencies and became special adviser to Premier Roy Romanow about 1977. Married Janis Rathwell in 1980, they had a daughter in 1982 and he joined Alcoholics Anonymous in 1989. Returned to work with Ministry of Transport in Romanow's government. He liked to fill out contest forms and won many prizes including 2 cars, trips and computers. In 1995 Peter and Janis built a home with an ocean view in Arbutus Ridge near Victoria, British Columbia. Peter was then working for Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority. Janis retired in 2001, moved to the B.C. house. Peter retired in late 2001 and joined her. When their daughter was killed in a skateboarding accident in 2002, Peter returned to drinking and went back and forth between sobriety and drinking. Peter and Janis separated in 2004 and Peter moved to Nanaimo. He died at age 60. Buried in Royal Oak Burial Park, Victoria, Grove of Remembrance, Section L, Grave 1495. Peter was raised and educated in Saskatchewan graduating from the University of Saskatchewan with a B.A. Honours and L.L.B. He practiced law in Saskatoon and Regina but was drawn to government. He was a strategic thinker with a great sense of humour who enjoyed the challenges of public policy especially when it benefitted Saskatchewan people. In government he fulfilled a number of roles, first as Special Advisor to the Attorney-General, Chair of the Highway Traffic Board, CEO of Saskatchewan Transportation Company and Vice President for the Liquor and Gaming Authority. Peter's pursuit of contests became legendary; winning 2 cars and numerous prizes including a trip to the four major golf tournaments. In 2001, Peter and Janis retired to Vancouver Island where Peter continued his pursuit of contests, golf and travelling. He was a longtime member and supporter of A.A. whose life was cut short. "Born to amuse, to inspire, to delight, here one day, gone one night. Like a sunset dying with the rising of the moon. GONE TOO SOON! GONE TOO SOON!" By request, a private family service will be held in May with interment to follow at Royal Oak Memorial Park in Victoria. A memorial plaque will be erected at Edgewood Treatment Center. Friends and colleagues of Peter's have celebrated his life at a service held in Regina on March 24, 2006. Predeceased by her parents Frances and William Wishart, Frances is survived by her loving husband Lorne of Regina; sister Helen Jordan, and brother James (Ann) Wishart, both of North Battleford; many nieces and nephews. She was born in Strasbourg and raised in the Strasbourg-Duval District. Frances attended Norma; School in Saskatoon and later earned her Bachelor of Education Degree at the University of Saskatchewan. A dedicated teacher, she practiced her profession in Nakomis and Duval, joining the Regina Public School System in 1954. She taught for over twenty-five years at Lakeview, Argyle and Marion McVeety schools, before retiring for health reasons. Her church meant a great deal to Frances. She donated her time to Wesley Wheelers and was an active member of the WCU and the Gyrettes. She was also a member of the Regina Retired Public Teachers Association. Frances will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, July 27, 1991 at 2:00 p.m. in Wesley United Church, 3913 Hillside Street, with the Rev. Following courtesy of Lorne Wallace Glendinning from Agnes Helen Baird's scrapbook: Glendinning - The death of Lillian Glendinning (nee Webster) age 81 years, of the Circle Drive Personal Care Home, beloved wife of Glen passed away comforted by love at her residence on Wednesday, May 9, 1990. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 12, 1990 at 10:30 a.m. from St. Martin's United Church, 2617 Clarence Ave. S., Saskatoon conducted by Rev. Brian Walton. Blessed by her life and love are her loving husband, James Alton (Glen), son, Peter (Janis Rathwell) and grandchildren Jamie and Megan, sister, Grace (Merv) Stephens, George's wife Elsa and many nieces and nephews. Alice joins her parents Harold and Elizabeth (Balfour), infant brothers and sisters, Harold, David and Mae Louise and her beloved brother George Webster. She was born February 18, 1909 at Milestone, Sask., and raised in Balcarres. Alice lived her life as a loving instrument of God and expressed His Blessings through her love of family, church and music. An active participant in the United Church, she served in many capacities in Moose Jaw, Plenty, Gull Lake, Rosetown and Saskatoon. She gained her greatest joy in expressing her love of children by teaching Sunday School for over forty years. While working as a school teacher in Redrows, Balcarres, Duff and Melville she attained her A.T.C.M. in music (1937) from Toronto Conservatory and taught piano for many years. Her positive faith, strength of spirit, and joy of life and humanity live on in her family and the many, many friends and children whose life she touched. Alice bore witness to the Power of His Love throughout her life. Through her giving, her life was blessed. We celebrate the blessing of her life with our lives. "Death is not putting out the lamp but extinguishing the flame, because the dawn has come." Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Unit 1036 College Drive, Saskatoon, Sask., S7K 0W1 or to the Saskatchewan Lung Association Memorial Research Fund, Box 58000, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, S7K 7Y7.
