Robert was listed as 24 years old resident of Orillia Township and a Presbyterian. The ceremony was held at the bride's parents home in Oro Township and the service was conducted by Rev. R. Fairburn by license. Witnesses were David Thomson of Orillia and Annie Johnstone of Oro. Was a farmer. Was living in South Orillia, Simcoe County, Ontario, Canada in 1920 when his father died. Death Registration 030017 Archives of Ontario microfilm MS935 Reel 282. Was listed as a farmer, Orillia Township, Simcoe County, Ontario, Canada. Died of chronic degeneration of myocardium under the care of J.N. Harvie. Undertaker was D. Clarke.
Robert purchased from the estate of his uncle, Robert Thomson 1830 - 1879, Lot 17, Concession 1, 200 acres, South Orillia Township, Simcoe County, Ontario, Canada when Robert Senior's family, Duncan Thomson etux; William J. Thomson, unmarried; Annie T. Johnston & husband John Johnston; Mary Kerr & husband Albert Kerr; Jane R. Burce & husband George Bruce; Robina Thomson, spinster; sold the property on 10 April 1902 (registered 15 April 1902), for $4,000. (Archives of Ontario, Abstracts to Deeds, microfilm GSU178869).
The Orillia Times dated May 26, 1921 (Archives of Ontario microfilm N39 Reel 61) reported:
THOMSON - At Forest Home on May 23, Robert Thomson aged 66 years.
"Death of Robert Thomson
Mr. Robert Thomson, of Forest Home, died on Monday at his home in South Orillia, where he had lived for over twenty years. He was a son of the late William Thomson, and came to Canada from his native Scotland over fifty years ago. After his marriage to Margaret Johnston, who was a daughter of the late James Johnston, he lived in Mara Township, before moving to South Orillia. He is survived by his wife and two sons and three daughters, William and James Thomson, South Orillia; Mrs. Geo. Bell, Orillia; Misses Jessie and Annie, at home. There are also two brothers, David P. and Donald C. Thomson, of South Orillia, and four sisters, Mrs. William Graham, Little Current, Mrs. David Dunn, South Orillia, and Misses Jessie and Annie who reside with their brother, Mr. Donald Thomson. The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon and was conducted by the Rev. N.H. McGillivray. The pallbearers were four of the late Mr. Thomson's nephews: Messrs. Thomas S. Thomson, Jas. W. Dunn, William Dunn and Gordon Dunn. Those from out of town attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. William Graham and Mrs. Rogers, of Little Current."
Robert's Will dated May 19, 1921 was applied for probate #10730 on November 14, 1921 by Executors David Park Thomson and David Dunn both of South Orillia Township, Simcoe County, Ontario, Canada. (Archives of Ontario microfilm MS1377). Real Estate consisted of Lot 17 Concession 1, South Orillia Township. The estate value was $12,177.70. Sons William Robert and James Johnston received Lot 17 Concession 1, South Orillia Township together with stock and implements. They must provide for widow Margaret and unmarried daughters Jessie Florence and Annie H. so long as they remain single and wish to remain on the farm. Daughter Margaret Jane Bell received $500.00. Daughters Jessie Florence and Annie H. each received $1,000.00. Rest of the estate went to wife Margaret. Their address was R.R. 1, Orillia, Simcoe County, Ontario, Canada. (All the survivors lived on R.R. #1, Orillia and Margaret Jane Ball lived in Town of Orillia).
