    • Birth registration 1899-001644, Government of Manitoba Vital Statistics, Joseph Paul Dumaresq, born 4 August 1898, mother Roseanna Vandale. Was born in Sainte Rose Du Lac, Manitoba, Canada, according to www.familysearch.org, Pedigree Resource File Jospeh Dumaresq, submitted by Sandra M. Boucher. Joseph's father, Samuel, went to British Columbia, Canada about 1896. His wife Roseanne, returned to her parents home in Manitoba for the birth of her first child Joseph. Joseph married a second time to Ruby (Boucher) McLeod, (a close friend of his mother's) in 1976 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Ruby was still living in 2004 according to her step son David Dumaresq. Ruby had three daughters with her first husband Lawrence Kennard McLeod and they lived in British Columbia. Ruby's parents were David Ransom Boucher and Minnie Stretton.
      Joseph's father, Samuel, was in business with Albert Kerr, the second husband of Mary (Cameron) Thomson. The business, Kerr & Dumaresq Lumber Co. Ltd. was in business from about 1926 until the 1970s. In the 1933 Vancouver City Directory, Joseph, his brothers Alex. J.; Sam J. jr.; and Stan A. were working for their father, Sam J. who was President of Seymour Logging. They lived at 2010 Bayswater. Sam J. was also Vice President of Kerr & Dumaresq Timber. In the British Columbia Directories, 1936, Jos. P. lived at 2010 Bayswater and was listed as President of Kerr & Dumaresq Timber; In 1937 Jos (Florence J.) lived at 1-1899 Dunbar (former address of Albert Kerr) and listed as President of Kerr & Dumaresq Timber. In the Vancouver City Directories, Joseph was listed in 1954 as President of Dumaresq Bros. Ltd., Logging, 1201 - 736 Granville; 1970-73 as President of Kerr & Dumaresq, Timber.

      Buried in Gardens of Gethsemoni Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum, 15800 - 32nd Avenue, Surrey, British Columbia in the Cloisters Mausoleum, Section 25, Row 103, Tier 3.

      DUMARESQ - Joseph Paul, at his residence on December 12, 1986 in his 89th year. Predeceased by his wife, Florence in 1974, survived by his loving wife Ruby; daughters, Joan McIntyre and Ellen Kennedy, son David and wife Joan; step-daughters Donna Scribner, Glennis Wilson and Mavis Venittili; 20 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; a brother Sam and wife Edith and a sister Anna McCall. The oldest brother of a pioneer logging family, Joe spent all of his happy and productive life on the coast of British Columbia. Prayers will be held at St. John the Apostle Church (5457 Trefalgar) on Monday, December 15, 1986 at 7:30 p.m. where Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 16 at 1 p.m. Private interment to follow at Garden of Gethsemoni Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Diabetic Association, 1091 West 8th Avenue, Vancouver, V6H 2V3 or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
